The World Uveitis Day Initiative is a global, expert-led movement dedicated
to raising awareness of uveitis, one of the leading causes of preventable vision loss
worldwide. Founded by uveitis specialists and supported by international partners and
major professional societies, the initiative aims to improve understanding, promote
early diagnosis, and advance timely, appropriate care.
Through World Uveitis Day, we unite healthcare professionals, patients,
advocates, and stakeholders worldwide to improve outcomes for people living with
uveitis.
The World Uveitis Day website serves as a unifying global platform to
engage healthcare professionals, patients, policymakers, the public, and charitable
institutions, fostering greater understanding, collaboration, and action to prevent
avoidable vision loss.
The inaugural celebration of World Uveitis Day will take place in
Doha (Qatar), honoring the city where the original proposal for World
Uveitis Day was first introduced by Dr. Zamzam Al-Baker, leader of the
Qatar Uveitis Care for All Initiative.
From this foundation, the initiative has united dedicated uveitis specialists and
attracted professional societies worldwide, building a collaborative movement
committed to writing a new and impactful chapter in global uveitis patient support.
This collective effort represents an important step toward raising awareness,
enhancing patient care, and strengthening the global response to uveitis.
